The application of reflective paint to the roofs of historic monuments requires approval from the Architects of Buildings of France (ABF).
For areas within a 500-meter radius of a historic monument, the final decision is made by the municipality, after consultation with the ABF. Even beyond this perimeter, it is mandatory to consult the local council. However, more and more municipalities are accepting this method, including in areas of remarkable heritage.
